A Turning Point

A Turning Point: Give Others a Hand Up Toward Self-Sufficiency.

A Turning Point is a non-profit striving to give people a hand in becoming more self-sufficient in the Kansas City area.

The purpose of “A Turning Point” is to help those in need learn to help themselves. To that end, the corporation has a twofold focus. The first is to partner with organizations and agencies to provide the best services to the Northland communities as possible through combining our resources or referring clients to appropriate resources. Secondly, “A Turning Point” will continuously research and assess needs in the community, looking to provide services and make connections to fill gaps and creating unique repertoire of services. (See video.)

A Turning Point offers services to clients looking to become more independent and self-sufficient. Clients can visit the Food Pantry (audio) weekly, the Wardrobe twice a month, and make use of their Academy (an adult educational program) as often as needed.

About The Project:

This is the final project for Steven Youngblood’s CA324 course, Advance Multimedia Productions. I went to Cathy Mclntire personally, and asked her if I could spotlight her organization for this project. She was more than happy to share the background and details of A Turning Point.
